Tenova typical requirements of a Hardening Furnace:

  • Process of Austenitizing: pipe reheating above Austenitizing point
  • Process of Normalizing: pipe reheating up to 920°C
  • Critical aspects:
    • Pipe could significantly bend getting into the hot furnace;
    • Pipe must be carefully handled mainly in this final phase of the treatment;
    • Small production and then very short furnaces so width length ratio high;
    • High pipe temperature uniformity to get the metallurgical requirement and keep proper shape during and after quenching.

Tenova typical requirements of a Tempering Furnace:

  • Process: pipe reheating up to 450-750°C
  • Critical aspects:
    • Very delicate process for getting the final mechanical properties of the pipe;
    • Wide product range and consequently wide range of heating temperature and soaking time;
    • Very tight temperature uniformity tolerance to get uniform mechanical properties.
